Visitor Information
The museum re-opens on Saturday, 14th March. We will be open Wednesday through til Sunday, 11am – 3pm, each week until June when opening hours will be extended. The museum will be open for longer over Easter. Friday 3rd April until, and including, Monday 6th April, we will be open between 10am and 4pm. Guided tours will be available at 11-30 and 13-00. Gold panning taster sessions can be booked at Reception when you arrive.
In addition the museum will be open on Bank Holiday Mondays 4th May and 25th May, between 10am and 4pm.
From June 1st, and until Sunday 30th August we will be open seven days a week between 10am and 4pm with three guided tours scheduled each day.
In September we will be open Wednesday through until Sunday between 11am and 3pm. There will be two guided tours each day we are open.

Getting Here
By car we are just under an hour from Glasgow, an hour and a half from Edinburgh and just over an hour from Carlisle.
EV charger (22kW) available – please bring your cable!
Directions from M74 – approx. 15 minutes
Your junction number from the M74 will be determined by the direction in which you are travelling. If you are travelling northbound on the M74 then use junction 14.
If you are travelling southbound then leave at junction 13.
The Museum is well signposted from both junctions.
Directions from A76 – approx. 15 mins
To reach us from the A76 Dumfries to Kilmarnock road, check out the map and you will see the junction for Wanlockhead (B797) is just outside the village of Mennock, two miles from Sanquhar.
This route will take you through the spectacular Mennock Pass, as it climbs up to the village.
