Summer Visitor Services, Tearoom and Sales Opportunities
We presently have seasonal vacancies for staff at the museum which operates between April and the end of September.

Experience preferred but not essential as full training will be given.
The Trust are fully flexible to meet the needs of the local community, so if you feel that you can work just a couple of hours a week that would be a valuable asset to the museum.
Museum Guides – As a Museum Guide you will accompany groups of all ages to visit our lead mine, miners’ cottages and library to provide cultural and historical information about the museum’s collection. Guides will be provided with full training, including shadowing sessions and support from museum staff. Guides will develop an extensive knowledge of mining life in Wanlockhead and surrounding areas.
Reception Staff – As a member of the reception team you will provide a welcoming environment for museum visitors, solving problems easily and maintaining visitor confidence. The primary duties include processing visitor admissions and retail sales in the museum shop where you will also ensure adequate stock levels are maintained.
Tearoom Staff – As a member of the tearoom staff you will take orders, prepare food, serve customers, wash up and clean whilst maintaining the required health and safety standards.

The Museum of Lead Mining provides a great day out with a unique opportunity to visit Scotland’s only mine open to the public. It operates as a not-for-profit charitable organisation.
