The Museum is fortunate
in having a talented and progressive Board of Trustees, a hard working and
dedicated staff and a large and willing pool of supporters, many of whom belong the Museum’s ‘Friends'. Within
this dedicated group there is a great variety of skills and talents and above
all an unending supply of goodwill and enthusiasm.
After the Museum closed for the season at the end of 2000, the ‘Friends’ worked tirelessly throughout the winter, removing and rebuilding partitions and walls, rerouting the lighting and wiring, moving display cases, plastering and painting.
Between November 2000 and the end of March 2001 in excess of 2000 hours were given free of charge by the ‘Friends’ to the upgrading of the Museum.
The aim was to improve the facilities for all of our visitors and to create a more effective display of the fantastic minerals we have, by building a Mineral Room.
