Friends of HIDDEN TREASURES, Museum of Lead Mining.

The Museum is fortunate in having a talented and progressive Board of Trustees, a hard working and dedicated staff and a large and willing pool of supporters, many of whom belong the Museum’s Friends organisation. Within this dedicated group there is a great variety of skills and talents and above all an unending supply of goodwill and enthusiasm.

The Friends of HIDDEN TREASURES, Museum of Lead Mining is an independent organisation of people who wish to support the Museum and encourage its development. A small committee is elected annually to manage the organisation.

When the Museum closed for the season at the end of 2009, Friends and volunteers worked tirelessly throughout the winter, completely refurbishing and upgrading Straitsteps Cottages. The entire project was funded by a donation from the Friends organisation. The donation came from membership fees and funds that the Friends had raised throughout the season.

Costs and Benefits of Joining the Friends

Friends Members enjoy unlimited admission to the Museum and its tours throughout the season, receive regular newsletters, invitations to social events and working parties, volunteering for fundraising and helping out in many other ways.

Membership costs £10 per year per adult, with a family ticket covering two named adults and up to two named children (5-16years) costing only £20 per year.

Conditions of use:

Membership is valid 1st April to 31st October.

Invitations to renew membership will be sent out during March for the following season.

Membership is non-transferable: it provides admission only for those people named on the card.

The membership card provides admission to HIDDEN TREASURES, Museum of Lead Mining during normal opening hours, but does not cover special event days, gold panning or other additional features that are not included in the standard admission price.

The membership card must be shown on every occasion. Members will be refused free admission without it.

We reserve the right to suspend admission rights if the membership card has been misused, (eg. by lending it to a relative or friend!)

All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Friends membership is a great way of enjoying HIDDEN TREASURES again and again and supporting the Museum.
